Forward Deployed AI Engineer

Mountain View, California

We’re seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to join MK1 to build AI solutions for enterprise clients. You’ll work directly with customers solving real-world problems. As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will drive each customer’s AI experience. Think of it as orchestrating a tailored “product launch” for every new client. You’ll learn their pain points, tailor a solution with our platform, and ensure they go from PoC to a fully functional AI system in production.

In this role, you will

  • Embed deeply with strategic customers to understand their business challenges and technical requirements in detail.
  • Design, architect, and develop full-stack solutions with MK1 AI technologies.
  • Prepare detailed scopes of work and project plans for both proof-of-concept prototypes and full production deployments.
  • Work hands-on with customers’ technical teams as a technical expert and trusted advisor, coding side-by-side to drive projects to completion. Collaborate closely with Sales to ensure seamless customer experiences, project success and actionable product feedback.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases, codifying best practices and sharing insights gained from customer engagements to scale the Forward Deployed Engineering function.

What we think might make you thrive at MK1

  • You should have a Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Software Engineering, or a related field, or bring 2+ years of hands-on experience building customer facing applications in production.
  • Demonstrated skills in taking AI solutions from prototype to production at scale are crucial.
  • Required technical experience includes Python production experience, API design for AI systems, and working with vector databases or modern data stores.
  • Knowledge of LLM integration, prompt engineering, and AI model deployment pipelines is essential.
  • Experience with customer-facing technical roles, solution architecture, or product management is highly beneficial.
  • Bonus points for experience with TypeScript/React for building AI-powered interfaces, or previous Solutions Engineering background.
